A replacement contact tip. It passes current into the wire at the exact moment the wire leaves the torch.
Why It Wears Out
The wire runs through the tip constantly, and the hole widens with use. A worn tip makes the arc wander and the feed stutter. Changing it is the first fix for an arc that has gone unstable.
