Floor jack (trolley jack)
A floor jack rolls on wheels, slides under the car and lifts with a long pump handle. Low-profile floor jack

Always Use Jack Stands
A jack is for lifting, not for holding. Never work under a car supported only by a jack. Once the car is raised, place jack stands under solid points of the chassis, lower the car onto them, and only then start work. Also:
- Work on flat, hard ground — not sand or soft asphalt on a hot afternoon.
- Engage the handbrake and chock the wheels on the opposite end.
- Use the manufacturer’s jacking points only.
- Lower the car slowly and keep hands and feet clear.

Dust and heat are hard on hydraulic seals. Store the jack fully lowered, wipe sand off the ram after use, and check the oil level occasionally. A jack that sinks slowly under load needs its seals serviced before it is used again.
